I’m the messy mom with the crazy hair
raising kids who “feel too deeply”.
I’m the mom who encourages wildness,
And sees the glimmer of their angel wings.
The one who happily explores the unknown,
and sets your imagination free.
I will remind you to be courageous,
In the fearless pursuit of your soul.
I am the mom who believes you when you say,
the monsters in your mind are real.
And when you feel their presence,
I will remind you of your warrior spirit.
I’ll be the mom who teaches you,
how to slay them in your sleep.
I’ll protect you from what lurks in the dark,
and guide you to stand up for your truth.
I’m the mom who sees your rage,
and I am unafraid.
I know you’ve been treated unfairly,
at the hands of those
who promised they’d keep you safe.
I know the moments,
that caused you to recoil in fear,
the ones which activated your distrust.
I am the mom who knows I can’t fix it,
and will allow you space to feel it,
as it needs to be.
I’m the mom who loves you fiercely,
who commits to your blessed journey.
The one who knows of your brilliance,
beyond textbooks and standardized tests.
I will listen to your stories.
I will call attention to your magic.
I will sing you home to me, always.
I’m the tired mom, the exhausted one
stretched across the land.
Depleted and sometimes disoriented,
and a little worried too.
I’m the mom who cries in desperate times,
uncertain of herself.
But through it all,
I’m still the mom who rises up,
to meet you where you are,
no matter where that may be.
Because my child,
you are worthy of love,
and all the beautiful things in between.
I am the mom who loves you;
I will make your laughter my priority
and your curiosity my eternal mission.
I will accept the way you see the world,
In your own unique lense.
I trust you know your spirit path,
better than I,
better than anyone,
and I promise to follow your lead.
I am the mom who may not always get it right,
I am the mom who probably gets it wrong
more times than I care to admit….
But I am the mom,
who will spend every ounce of her energy,
learning to be better,
praying for God’s guidance,
listening to the whispers of your guiding light.
I am the mom who will reinvent herself over again,
to be the person you need in order to thrive.
I’ll honor all that makes you; you.
Your trials and triumphs,
Your pain and your glory,
Your tears, your fears,
Your successes and your silliness.
I’ll fall into the mysterious unknowns of our bond.
I’ll take this journey with you,
I lovingly, willingly, joyfully
commit to your purpose,
every single day.
